AIRBUS MILITARY orders MEDUSA spare systems for Portuguese Airforce C-295

OPTIMARE has been awarded by AIRBUS MILITARY the follow-up order to deliver spare sensors and mission computer equipment for the new surveillance aircraft of type C-295 of the Portuguese Airforce (VIMAR program). The spare shipset complements the new MEDUSA maritime surveillance suites which were already delivered by OPTIMARE to AIRBUS MILITARY. The Portuguese Air Force (PoAF) has ordered twelve C-295 aircraft for military transport and maritime surveillance missions. Five of the aircraft are being equipped with a complete mission system for maritime surveillance and maritime contamination control. The C-295 aircraft will replace the three C-212-100 aircraft, in operation since 1974. OPTIMARE delivered maritime surveillance systems of type MEDUSA in pollution control subsystem configuration to AIRBUS MILITARY for integration with the EADS FITS system onboard these new surveillance aircraft.
