MEDUSA-P in operation during Campaign AIRBASE

The research aircraft Polar5 operates the OPTIMARE data acquisition system MEDUSA-P during the campaign AIRBASE of the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research. The campaign takes place at the British research station Rothera and serves the study of the atmospheric boundary layer over the Antarctic sea ice.

 

MEDUSA-P configuration to operate and handle data of the following sensors is:

 

  • Primary navigation system of the aircraft
  • Trimble GPS-Receiver
  • Several laser und laser scanner
  • Basic meteorological instrumentation
  • Video system
  • Integral und spectral radiation sensors
  • Turbulence probe nose boom
