Operationelle Ozeonographie

Oceanographic measurements

Deployment of oceanographic instruments such as CTD, ADCP, rosette samplers are essential components of oceanographic cruises in various disciplines. OPTIMARE has long-term experience in the deployment of various instruments in coastal, marine, and polar regions. Preparation, application, data calibration, analyses, quality control, and visualization are part of an operational oceanographic service and necessary competences are fully provided.

Moorings

Successful mooring of scientific instruments requires a high degree of expertise in preparation, deployment and recovery. OPTIMARE has provided logistical preparation as well as successful deployment and recovery of more than 200 moorings in coastal, marine, and polar waters. From the initial planning until recovery, OPTIMARE accompanies and supports their customers worldwide.

Argos and Iridium data management

The deployment of autonomous profiling and moored sensor systems requires a reliable data acquisition and management system. OPTIMARE offers automated monitoring, alarm, distribution, processing, and archiving of data received by Argos or Iridium transmitters.

Data acquisition and distribution are based on the worldwide Argos or Iridium satellite networks with global coverage. Standard applications are transmitters placed on drifting and moored buoys, as well as marine animals.

For applications in coastal waters, where a large amount of data is transmitted from buoys, data services also include radio- and GSM transmission.
